Malta’s Sanctions Monitoring Board confirmed it had received no requests for settlements from individuals or entities accused of breaching international or EU sanctions. Amendments introduced the previous November allow agreements before prosecution or after charges are filed, while keeping sanctions breaches criminal offences. Any settlement may require payment of fines and stronger internal due-diligence controls. Board chair Neville Aquilina said no agreements had been concluded, no amounts determined or paid, and nobody had benefited from the mechanism so far.
