Heritage group seeks delay on Excelsior extension decision

Din l-Art Ħelwa urged the government and Planning Authority to defer a decision on a proposed extension to the Grand Hotel Excelsior in Floriana. The NGO said Malta’s application to extend the UNESCO World Heritage Site boundaries associated with Valletta should be resolved or properly considered first. It fears a premature permit could affect the setting of the fortified city and complicate the international process. The request places heritage impact and long-term planning above the existing timetable for the private development application.
