The European Commission has proposed allocating Malta €3.72 million from the EU Solidarity Fund towards damage caused by Storm Harry in January. The amount is part of a €489 million package for Malta, Portugal, Spain and Italy. Malta had already received €931,000 as an advance from the same fund after submitting an application based on the storm’s impact. The proposal is not yet final: the European Parliament and Council must approve it before the remaining money can be transferred. European Funds Minister Keith Azzopardi Tanti welcomed the decision as an expression of European solidarity.
