Malta had 10,022 vacant jobs during the first three months of 2026, according to the National Statistics Office. More than half were concentrated in wholesale and retail, transport and storage, accommodation and food services, professional and scientific activities, and administrative support. Firms employing between one and 49 people accounted for 53.4% of vacancies, while businesses with at least 250 workers generated 16.8%. The private sector dominated demand for labour, representing 96.5% of all reported openings, with the public sector supplying the remainder.
