Alex Borg begins talks to form opposition shadow cabinet

Opposition Leader Alex Borg began individual meetings with Nationalist MPs to assemble his shadow cabinet. The policy spokespeople will correspond to government ministers and parliamentary secretaries and scrutinise their portfolios. The talks followed completion of the PN parliamentary group after casual elections and the swearing-in of the new legislature, where Labour holds 42 seats to the PN’s 37. Ivan Castillo had already been appointed whip and Bernard Grech Deputy Speaker. Borg was also due to respond to the President’s speech and address the party’s General Council.
