Malta has launched the E-CORE environmental programme with approximately €9 million from European Union and national funds. ERA and Ambjent Malta will carry out interventions across Natura 2000 sites, including restoring habitats, controlling invasive species, monitoring environmental conditions and conserving wildlife. Plans also include converting the former Marfa Radar Station into an interpretation centre for Natura 2000 and nocturnal wildlife, alongside a Buskett Water Heritage Trail. Improved visitor infrastructure, public-awareness work and professional training are intended to strengthen ecological resilience while managing public access. Ministers Miriam Dalli and Keith Azzopardi Tanti announced the programme.
