The Nationalist Party accused government of using parliamentary procedure to prevent debate on its Omnibus Bill implementing recommendations from the Daphne Caruana Galizia public inquiry. At the House Business Committee, the Opposition said no procedural motion had initially appeared on the agenda. After it announced plans to use private-members’ business for the bill, the government whip said a motion would reserve the first 90 days of that time for government backbenchers. The PN called this an attempt to block debate. Its package contains ten proposed reforms; the government’s response was not included in the report.
