Kionash Malek Zadeh appeared before Magistrate Monica Vella after a warrant issued by the Helsingborg Public Prosecution Office on 30 September. He consented to surrender to Sweden, but prosecutors said two Maltese cases must take precedence, including proceedings involving alleged bodily harm and insults against police officers. The magistrate ordered him kept in custody until the local cases are addressed. His legal-aid lawyer Rachel Tua suggested he could travel for sentencing and return, but the prosecution objected. The Maltese and Swedish matters remain unresolved, and all allegations in Malta are unproven.
